Bought by the owners of The Grainary, a 40-acre working farm in Harwood Dale, the interior of The Falcon Inn needed to dovetail into the aesthetics of The Grainary but have its own character and personality.

Having been closed for several years, the building required a complete refit to transform the domestic feel of the bedrooms/manager accommodation and tired bar/function areas into something uniquely Falcon!

The design ethos was “cosy meets country”, appointed with classic patterns and colours enlivened by splashes of “bold and memorable”.

We created four King Bedrooms with French-style wall coverings (different colours for each room) and luxurious yet minimalist bathrooms, warmed up by bold wallpaper. Some of the bedrooms have window seats from which to sit with a book or quietly enjoy the fantastic views over rolling Yorkshire countryside.

Downstairs, carpets were removed and replaced with traditional timber with wooden panelling added to the walls for hard wearing as well as aesthetic purpose.

To revitalise the traditional “English Pub,” we installed banquette seating to improve the flow of traffic. We also reupholstered and made good the existing furniture to breathe new life into the dining/bar area.

The original function room of the Falcon Inn had what can only be described as “an afterthought” of a bar at one end and the whole room was generally underused.

We replaced this old bar with a much bigger unit, doubling as a coffee cake servery. To complement the new bar, we added comfortable seating and sofas and repurposed the existing fireplace to encourage guests to relax with coffee and cake as well as with their drinks from the bar.

The old glass-panelled conservatory, previously a through-area with sparse hard seats and tables, was transformed into a light-filled room with generously upholstered chairs and with a true conservatory feel for additional dining and after dinner coffees.
